Your casual question - How do you like your house? - made me realize that we haven't really shared our pleasure with you lately.  After two months of living here, we haven't even begun to take it for granted.

The eye falls on glowing floors, textures everywhere, and rooms full of space and light.  As we hoped, the house fits naturally among the trees and rocks.  As you planned, when we come around that last curve we see a beautiful house that is – incredibly – our home.

We have always heard that building a house is an ordeal.  Strangely enough, we really enjoyed the design and building process.  Working with you, Mike, Tom, and the craftsmen who built our house felt like genuine involvement in a richly creative process.  Of course it wasn’t always smooth, easy, and predictable.  Few worthwhile things are.  Maybe the supreme compliment for you is that, given the right circumstances, we would do it again.

Thanks for understanding our sometimes “eccentric” ideas, for knowing how to turn dreams in solid matter, and for caring so much about what you do.
