MOORESVILLE, NC -- Spivey Construction Company, with luxury custom home and commercial divisions based in Mooresville, NC, is nearing completion of the new 6,400+ square-foot Dove House Children's Advocacy Center in Statesville. Until now, The Dove House had leased and renovated a 100-year-old Victorian home in downtown Statesville, less than half the size of the new facility. Spivey Construction's Owner Willis Spivey has called the Dove House project a 'true labor of love'. His firm donated all of its general contracting and construction services to build the new advocacy center. Along with impressive support of many area businesses and individuals, the Dove House will celebrate its public grand opening on Sunday, Dec. 13 from Noon - 5 pm. The projected asset value of the new Dove House is estimated at $2.0 million, proudly confirmed Dove House Fundraising Chair/Board of Directors member Jack Grossman. As Willis Spivey said, "Probably nothing is as close to the heart as the well being of our children. The Dove House story is one of amazingly unselfish devotion and determination of many individuals in the community to help children in real need. We wanted to do our part for such a worthy cause." The Dove House, recipient of the North Carolina Governor's Crime Commission Award of Excellence, is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides a centralized, safe and child-friendly facility that supports the investigation and successful prosecution of all reported child sexual abuse cases in Iredell, Alexander and parts of North Mecklenburg Counties. To date, the organization has helped more than 4,300 child victims and their non-offending family members. Since its doors opened in 2002, the Dove House has dramatically increased the rate of successful prosecutions of area child sexual abuse cases from 20% to 85%. Currently, the Dove House is handling approximately six reported cases per week.
